Holtschlag Receives NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Western Illinois senior football player Jimmy Holtschlag (Quincy/Notre Dame) has received numerous athletic and academic awards throughout his career. He will now add to the already impressive list one of the most prestigious honors given out by the NCAA.

FCS ADA Tabs Pucylowski as Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Southern Illinois University senior punter Austin Pucylowski was one of two players chosen as recipients of the 13th Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Also selected was Brett Biestek, a defensive lineman from Fordham University.

SDSU's Brown is National Freshman of the Week
Philadelphia (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Brown of South Dakota State was one of five players honored by the Sports Network this past week. He was named National Freshman of the Week on Monday. Brown was Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Week in the MVFC this week, too.

North Dakota State is National Team of the Week
The North Dakota State Bison headlined a banner weekend for teams from the Football Championship Subdivision by knocking off Kansas State on the road, 24-21. The two-time defending FCS champions are the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week for games of the weekend of Aug. 31.

Five league schools are at home (the league is 4-1 at home this year), and South Dakota State travels to Grand Forks, N.D., to take on North Dakota.

Bison Tabbed No. 1 in Sports Network Poll
The poll's national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries confirmed North Dakota State as the preseason No. 1 on Tuesday by giving the Bison 127 of the 134 first-place votes and 3,340 points. Eight MVFC teams, including four in the Top 17, received votes in this year's pre-season poll.

Bison Picked to Win 2013 Valley Football Title
North Dakota State has been picked to win the Missouri Valley Football Conference crown in 2013. The Bison were a unanimous choice to repeat, earning 39 of a possible 39 first-place votes, in a poll conducted by league coaches, media and sports information directors.

Missouri Valley Football Announces 2013 Telecast Plans
Approximately 50 league games will air on a myriad of television networks during the 2013 season, the Missouri Valley Football Conference announced today. The Conference will produce seven league games as part of its 2013 Game of the Week package, and more than 40 additional games will air in conjunction with MVFC institutional packages.

Seventeen student-athletes highlight the 2012-13 Missouri Valley Football Honor Roll, as announced by the league office today. The Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America Team, released Monday, is 98 players deep and comes from 59 different schools and all 13 conferences. It's a standout three teams that feature running backs, offensive linemen and, well, two-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State. The MVFC has 16 total selections - more than any other league.
