Division I FCS Roundup - Sept. 21

ESPN College GameDay is headed to Fargo, N.D., for its weekly show prior to the North Dakota State-Delaware State game on Saturday (the Sept. 21 game is at 2:30 pm CT on ESPN3 and ESPN GamePlan). College GameDay has visited three other FCS matchups in recent history: Hampton at Florida A&M (2008); Grambling vs. Southern (2005); and Harvard at Penn (2002).

Nearly 150 student-athletes from schools currently in the FCS are on NFL rosters in 2013. Four players from FCS schools were in the Pro Bowl in 2013. The NFL’s active scoring leader (and in the Top 10 all-time) is PK Adam Vinatieri (South Dakota State alum). Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State), of course, is the all-time leading scorer for non-kickers with 1,256 career points.

Last week, there were two more FCS wins against FBS schools, raising the season total to 13. Six of those 13 include wins vs. teams from BCS conferences. The 13-such wins matches the all-time record (set in 2000).
