Salukis to Play First-Ever Football Game at Busch Stadium
Southern Illinois will play Southeast Missouri State at Busch Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 21, marking the first football game in the storied tradition of that stadium and giving St. Louis-area fans and alumni of the two schools an opportunity to see the teams in their own backyard.

DeKraker Named FCS ADA Scholar Athlete of the Year
Nick DeKraker, a defensive tackle from Youngstown State University and Pat Kelly, a wide receiver from Liberty University, have been chosen as the recipients of the 12th Annual KP Sports Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Bohl Takes Another Top Coaching Honor
The American Football Coaches Association capped its 2013 convention by presenting its top coaching award — AFCA Coach of the Year — to five outstanding coaches on Tuesday, Jan. 8. And North Dakota State's Craig Bohl represents the FCS.

Bison Headline Both National Top-25 Polls
North Dakota State was a unanimous No. 1 in both the Sports Network and FCS Coaches top-25 rankings. Illinois State and South Dakota State represent the MVFC in the rankings, while Indiana State, UNI, Southern Illinois and Youngstown State all received votes in one or both polls.

Thorton Receives NCAA Elite 89 Award
North Dakota State University linebacker Esley Thorton received the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) NCAA Elite 89 Academic Award at the championship banquet held Friday, Jan. 4, at the Embassy Suites.
Thorton, a 6-foot-3, 207-pound sophomore from Bismarck, N.D., maintains a 3.870 grade point average majoring in exercise science.

Bison Repeat as National Champions
The North Dakota State Bison have a second straight FCS championship in what's becoming their second home. Backed by more than 10,000 fans wearing green and gold in the same suburban Dallas stadium where they beat Sam Houston State a year ago, the Bison outnumbered their Texas counterparts in the stands and outplayed them on the field - again.

Seven in MVFC Honored by ADA
The 54 winners of the 15th annual Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team presented by KP Sports were announced by the FCS ADA, today. There were 98 total nominees. Three conferences had seven student-athletes named to the All-Star Team - the Big Sky Conference, Missouri Valley Football Conference and the Southern Conference.

Six Honored for Academics
PHILADELPHIA, PA. — Montana State defensive end Caleb Schrebeis, Stony Brook quarterback Kyle Essington, South Dakota State running back Zach Zenner and Lehigh wide receiver Ryan Spadola headline College Sports Journal's inaugural All-Academic team. A total of six MVFC players earned selection to the team.
